ROPS Program

Operation of zero-turn-radius commercial lawnmowers around ponds, sudden drop-offs and steep slopes can be hazardous if the operator does not proceed cautiously. Scag Power Equipment is concerned with your safety. A roll-over protective structure (ROPS), when used in combination with seatbelts and safe operating practices, is effective in reducing serious injuries and death from roll-over accidents.

Do not operate on any slope you cannot back up with the cutter deck down and stay off any slope of more than 15 degrees with Scag® riding mowers. Cut these slopes with a walk-behind mower or hand-held trimmer. If obstructions, walls or drop-offs prevent you from reaching the bottom of the slope to attempt to try the back-up test, stay off of the slope with the riding mower. Do not operate close to drop-offs or along the banks of ponds.

Newer Scag zero-turn-radius commercial lawnmowers are designed to accept ROPS. All Wildcat™, Turf Tiger™ and Sabre Tooth Tiger mowers have optional or standard ROPS accessories. Tiger Cub mowers made in the 2002 model year and later will also accept a ROPS accessory or have ROPS as standard equipment.

Scag Customers Who Own a Mower That Can Be Fitted With ROPS

If you are the owner of a Scag Turf Tiger, Tiger Cat® or Wildcat zero-turn-radius commercial lawnmower which can be fitted with a ROPS but was not originally equipped with one,* we are offering a folding ROPS at the reduced price of $189.* All original and subsequent registered and nonregistered owners of the mowers previously listed are eligible.* Please contact your local Scag dealer for availability of ROPS and offer eligibility for your particular model of mower.

As a registered owner of an eligible Scag mower, you should have received a letter in the mail regarding this program. There was a Hillside Operation and Safety Guide enclosed that includes important safety messages concerning the avoidance of roll-over accidents. Fill in the enclosed postage-prepaid card to indicate your desire to take advantage of this ROPS offer. Check the appropriate box if you no longer own the Scag zero-turn-radius commercial lawnmower or if you have already installed a ROPS. If you are not interested in our offer, please tell us why. Please return the card regardless of whether or not you are accepting our offer. Contact your local Scag dealer if you have any questions.
