JOLIET, Ill. (May 16, 2025) – Ahead of competition at the Gerber Collision and Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway, SCAG Racing unveiled the SCAG Power Equipment Pro Modified hot rod to be driven by six-time UFC Champion Randy “The Natural” Couture.
Couture, a celebrated figure known for his achievements as a UFC Hall of Famer, actor, commentator, and former U.S. Army Sergeant, is adding race car driver to his impressive resume. His Pro Mod car, a 1937 Chevy is adorned with SCAG Racing’s Cats Eye Gold features the Jackal, a mini skid steer, and the Tree Frog, a remote-control extreme slope mower.
“The car hasn’t looked better. I’m very, very excited to be in Cats Eye Cold, back in orange and black, back to my wrestling roots at Oklahoma State and Oregon State University, where I both wrestled and then coached,” said Couture who is in the process of completing his NHRA Pro Mod licensing and will make his competition debut at the NHRA Virginia Nationals in June. “Excited to be with my new team here, SCAG Racing. I’m learning some new skills and tickling that competitive bone by going Pro Mod racing. I’m very excited about the opportunity, and I think it’s going to be an amazing year.”
The SCAG Pro Mod will be on display for the remainder of the Route 66 NHRA Nationals weekend, a home event for SCAG Racing whose parent company, Meltalcraft of Mayville, is in Mayville, Wisconsin. SCAG Racing took advantage of the close proximity and will have hundreds of employees, dealers, and distributors of Metalcraft of Mayville and SCAG Power Equipment in attendance, making the weekend all the more special.
Competition at the Gerber Collision and Glass NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway kicks off with four sessions of qualifying Friday at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at noon and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations will begin Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Television coverage of the event will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) with qualifying shows Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET and Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. Eliminations will air Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
