CONCORD, N.C. (September 17, 2025) – Daniel Wilkerson and the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car team are gearing up for the NHRA Four-Wide Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway, the second of six races in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship. As the first-ever four-wide event in the playoffs, this high-stakes race presents a unique opportunity for Wilkerson to make a statement in the Funny Car standings.
Coming off a challenging end to the regular season, Wilkerson, the rising star from Springfield, Ill., is eager to capitalize on the four-wide format’s intensity. Currently positioned 10th in the Funny Car points after a runner-up finish at the Winternationals, two back-to-back Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge wins in Virginia and Ohio and two semifinal appearances, Wilkerson and his team, led by veteran crew chief Tim Wilkerson, are focused on delivering a standout performance to climb the playoff ladder.
“I’m excited to run four-wide this weekend at zMAX Dragway. Excited to get back in the seat of my SCAG Ford Mustang,” Wilkerson said. “This team has been working hard, and it would be nice to finally be able to show it on the track. Tim has an excellent history running four-wide in Charlotte and we need a good weekend to stay relevant. So, here’s hoping we get some win lights and maybe even end up in the winners circle.”
The NHRA Four-Wide Carolina Nationals marks a historic moment as the first time the four-wide format has been featured in the Countdown to the Championship. Luckily, crew chief Tim Wilkerson has a win at the spring NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway from 2021and won in the fall at the facility in 2016. Tim has also won in the four-wide format at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
With four Funny Cars thundering down the quarter-mile simultaneously, the event demands precision, strategy, and nerves of steel—qualities Wilkerson has shown throughout his 2025 campaign. The team’s meticulous preparation and Tim Wilkerson’s proven expertise in four-wide racing, including past successes at zMAX Dragway, set the stage for a potential turnaround.
Competition at the NHRA Four-Wide Carolina Nationals begins with four rounds of qualifying Friday at 4 and 6:15 p.m. and Saturday at 12:30 and 3 p.m. Eliminations are slated for Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Television coverage of the event will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) with a qualifying show Sunday at 10 a.m. ET and eliminants at noon ET.
