INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 27, 2025) – Daniel Wilkerson and the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car team are set to showcase the team’s ability at this weekend’s prestigious Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park this weekend.
As one of the most iconic events in NHRA Drag Racing, the U.S. Nationals offers a second stage for the SCAG team to excel as they join seven of the top Funny Car competitors in the PlayNHRA Funny Car All-Star Callout, a high-stakes specialty race that promises intense action and bragging rights.
“What can you say about Indy, there is nothing else like running there,” Wilkerson said. “The prestige, the call-out race, the extra win money puts this race on a pretty high pedestal. Plus, before we raced in St. Louis, this was my closest race to home, so I have literally missed maybe only five U.S. Nationals in my entire life.”
Wilkerson enters the U.S. Nationals with a strong 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals, two Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge wins in Richmond and Norwalk, and a career-best elapsed time of 3.855 seconds at the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals.
Currently seventh in the Funny Car points standings, Wilkerson has qualified in the top half of the field in nine of the 13 races this season, including a career-best No. 3 qualifying position in Charlotte. His consistent performance and growing chemistry with the 11,000-horsepower SCAG Ford Mustang, tuned by his father, Tim Wilkerson, position him as a formidable contender.
At the U.S. Nationals, Wilkerson will also compete in the PlayNHRA Funny Car All-Star Callout, facing off against the top eight qualified drivers over the past year. The callout format, where the top driver selects their opponent, adds an extra layer of strategy and excitement. Wilkerson’s success in bonus races and his hunger for his first career Funny Car victory make him a driver to watch in this star-studded field.
“The men that work on this car and all the men and women from SCAG that support us have not gotten the performance they deserve the last couple races, and I cannot think of a better place to turn that around for all of us than the U.S. Nationals,” Wilkerson added.
Competition at the Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals starts with five rounds of qualifying Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 12:30 and 3:15 p.m. and Sunday at noon and 2:45 p.m. Eliminations will take place Labor Day Monday beginning at 10 a.m. Television coverage of the event will begin on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) with a qualifying show Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET, a show dedicated to covering the PlayNHRA All-Star Funny Car Callout at 5 p.m. ET and a second qualifying show at 6:30 p.m. ET. Eliminations will begin to air Monday on FS1 at noon ET before switching over to FOX Broadcasting Network (FOX) for live eliminations at 2 p.m. ET.
