ENNIS, Texas (October 8, 2025) – Daniel Wilkerson and the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car team roll into Texas Motorplex this weekend hungry for a Texas-sized victory at the Texas NHRA FallNationals, the fourth of six races in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship playoffs.
Fresh off a strong semifinal finish at his home race, the NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway, Wilkerson sits fifth in Funny Car points standings—135 points behind the leader but a mere 12 markers out of fourth place—with everything on the line in the closing stretch of the season.
The Texas NHRA FallNationals, the finale of the Texas Motorplex’s Stampede of Speed, offers added excitement with a Pre-Stage FanFest Thursday evening in downtown Waxahachie, and the Friday night low qualifier bonus, the “Battle for the Saddle” where each category will compete for bonus cash and bragging rights.
“We have a badass race car, and the SCAG boys are putting it together flawlessly,” said Wilkerson. “[Crew chief] Tim [Wilkerson] has made a handful of good throwdown runs this year, so I like my chances of getting to sit on that saddle and hopefully picking up a little extra cash for our team.”
Adding extra motivation this weekend is a massive contingent of SCAG dealers, distributors and supporters set to join the team for festivities at the track. After back-to-back semifinal finishes, Wilkerson is eyeing nothing less than a trip to the winner’s circle, complete with the event’s signature cowboy hats for his crew.
“We have around 400 people coming to hang out with us this weekend with SCAG Southwest,” Wilkerson said. “I would love nothing more than to host them in the winner circle on Sunday and leave with a team full of cowboy hats.”
Competition at the Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex begins with four qualifying sessions Friday at 4:15 and 7 p.m. and Saturday at noon and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations are slated for a 10 a.m. start on Sunday. Television coverage of the event will begin on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) with a qualifying show Sunday at 10 a.m. ET and continue with eliminations shows on FOX Broadcasting Network (FOX) at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET.
