LAS VEGAS (Oct. 29, 2025) – Daniel Wilkerson and the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang team are charging into the neon glow of The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with fire in their eyes. Sitting fifth in the NHRA Funny Car points standings, Wilkerson is chasing his first career victory at this weekend’s Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals.
With just two races left on the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series calendar, the pressure is on, but Wilkerson’s SCAG crew is embracing the urgency with fresh energy and innovative tweaks. Coming off back-to-back semifinal appearances at the Midwest Nationals and then the NHRA FallNationals, Wilkerson is only 50 points back from fourth. The two-week break has allowed the team to regroup and experiment, transforming potential frustration into fuel for a breakout performance under the Vegas lights.
“I can’t believe there are only two races left. I am absolutely shocked we haven’t won a race this year and this SCAG Mustang team intends to rectify that this weekend at Vegas,” Wilkerson said. “The boys and I had a little more time with two weeks off and we are trying something new for Vegas: we all hit the practice tree together as a team, if that yields results this weekend, we will definitely add it to the regular routine.”
Wilkerson has shown flashes of dominance all season, consistently advancing deep into eliminations with five semifinal exits and a runner-up finish at the Winternationals in Southern California. Last year, Wilkerson qualified 11th at the Nevada Nationals and beat Matt Hagan before falling in the quarterfinals. At the spring Four-Wide event, Wilkerson qualified sixth but exited in the first quad. Father and crew chief, Tim, won at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway back in the spring of 2008.
Competition at the Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway begins with four rounds of qualifying Friday at 12:30 and 3 p.m. and Saturday at noon and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations round out the weekend Sunday at 11 a.m. Fans can catch the action live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) with a qualifying show at 3 p.m. ET and eliminations at 5 p.m. ET
