MAYVILLE, Wis. (June 12, 2025) – SCAG Racing and car owner Dominate Racing have announced drag racing veteran Jim Maroney as crew chief for the SCAG Power Equipment Pro Mod 1937 Chevy driven by six-time UFC Champion Randy “The Natural” Couture.
“Jim has been a part of our racing program for a few years and I felt it would be beneficial to have him on board,” said Nathan Bates, owner of the Dominate Racing team. “Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. His work ethic and beliefs align with what we are trying to accomplish with SCAG Power Equipment behind us.” “
Maroney, 57 and a Phoenix native, has been around drag racing all his life, his father and uncle campaigned a Funny Car in the 1970s and 80s and he’s been behind the wheel since the 1990s. Maroney has raced circle track, Alcohol Funny Car, Fuel Altered and Top Fuel dragster. He tuned a Nostalgia Fuel Altered, Nostalgia Funny Car and owned and tuned his own NHRA Top Fuel program.

Maroney is the owner of American Flowtech – specializing in mechanical fuel injection systems utilized in all forms of drag racing, circle track, water and sand. Away from the racetrack, Maroney designs and engineers pumping systems for the construction industry.
Naming Maroney as crew chief for the Dominate Racing SCAG Power Equipment Pro Mod program is the latest step on the journey to a competition debut for Couture. The team is continuing to test and prepare for their first appearance in the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod category.
